After a sabbatical and an excursion into employment, Monika Herrmann is back with Moderning.

The renowned futurologist founded her company 2002 and worked for over twelve years for various Swiss companies in the field of futurology. The Covid 19 pandemic shows it once again: companies would do well to record various long-term future scenarios in the future. Moderning is specialized in this and offers customized and sustainable solutions.

Zurich, October 2020 – The corona pandemic was not the deciding factor, but it did accelerate the decision of the experienced futurologist Monika Herrmann to return to business with her company Moderning. “I felt that it was the right moment to return to the front line,” says the trained marketing expert, “Switzerland is not doing badly in this crisis, it is very innovative in many respects. But the crisis has also shown that it is more important and necessary than ever for companies in all industries and economic sectors to look further than ever before and to draw up new scenarios. “Corona is a good example of a shocking event that does not allow a return to the old normality,” says Herrmann. “As futurologists, we conduct interdisciplinary research involving expert knowledge, empirical research and the know-how of our clients. We use creativity techniques to develop images of conceivable futures and combine them into alternative scenarios”. Monika Herrmann considers it important to communicate with her clients at eye level. Moderning’s strengths lie not only in its expertise and over thirty years of experience. “As a futurologist, I don’t chase after trends, I track them down. I see our customers as equal partners; together we form working groups whose results are processed into a joint solution”. The passion of the Zurich-by-choice woman with roots in Grisons with the passion for flying is in the process of obtaining her flying license. She sees herself as an ideal co-pilot – both in her private and business life. “As an external specialist, I accompany and motivate my customers on their way to overcoming boundaries and thinking out-of-the-box.

Back after a creative break

The last two years Monika Herrmann granted herself a time-out, went on journeys and was among other working for the Divison of Business and Economic Development Canton of Zurich. In September 2020, she moved with Moderning into her new office in Zurich’s Seefeld district, where she has been based for many years, while still retaining her charming Grisons dialect. There she developed her communicaton presence together with the agency GUYCOLLE GmbH. «I am looking forward to the new challenges and am happy to be able to follow my consulting instinct again and create new future worlds with Moderning.»
